Croatian Cuisine

Food

Coastal Cuisine in Croatia is influenced by Greek, Roman and Mediterranean traditions. Olive oil is used as well as a variety of spices such as rosemary, sage, bay leaf, oregano, marjoram, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and lemon and orange rind. The Dalmatian region has its own distinct cooking traditions utilizing fresh fish including oily fishes like sardines the ubiquitous octopus, mussels and oysters. Charcuterie and pasta are common and you will also find a pastry dish similar to spanakopita.

Wine

We've learned that Yogis do love wine, so you will be thrilled to know that Croatia has a wonderful history of winemaking brought from the Greeks centuries ago. While on this Croatia Yoga Retreat we will explore some new and exotic varieties!
