At Sound Method we believe in supporting healthy aging for all of our students. At every age we can facilitate strength, balance, stamina, vitality and a positive attitude. Special classes on our daytime schedule are geared specifically toward building wellness for seniors in a fun and intelligent way. The instructors for these special classes have special training and experience in working with aging bodies. We are prepared accomodate students with limitations to help them get the most of their time on the mat. Yoga for Healthy Aging in Omaha

SENIOR WELLNESS NORTHWEST OMAHA

This is a  yoga class which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being.  Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation techniques (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind.  The asanas work to make the spine supple, the core strong and supple, and to promote circulation in the organs, glands, and tissues.  Hatha yoga postures strengthen and stretch the body, promoting balance and flexibility.  Modifications are offered to meet each student’s ability.

On Wednesdays this class focuses on strength using resistance training with hand weights or resistance bands. It’s a fun and adventurous way to enhance the postures and increase strength building capacity.

All levels are welcome.  This class is appropriate for beginners.  No yoga experience is necessary.

Treat your body to a guided stretch including simple movements for better balance, increased flexibility, and a healthier you. Movements include tai chi, yoga, the use of weighted balls, and bands. Reduce muscle and joint pain, improve posture, decrease stress and increase manage of motion and flexibility with this dynamic class. 

This class is wonderful for novices as well as students with some prior experience.

Yin & Somatics is a weekly practice that provides gentle movement to improve proprioception, body awareness, and mobility. It is a practice of both repetitive movements and stillness. This practice is a blend of Yin Yoga and Somatic movement inspired by Feldenkrais Method™. While anyone can benefit from this practice, it is especially valuable for those challenged by chronic pain issues such as back pain or arthritis.
